When your child is young it is a great time to experiment with their own sense of personal style. You, as the parent, want to see what works for your child but you want them to be happy with it. So if you are interested in getting funky with your child’s hair and wardrobe, here are some tips that you can follow.

Be Mindful

Remember that whatever you do with your child is something that you should be willing to do yourself. While you want your child to be unafraid to express themself, you have to be aware of their own sense of boundaries and you wouldn’t want to do anything that they wouldn’t want you to do. But once you know that they are trusting in your judgment, you can have a little fun.

Hair Play

Have fun with their hair. Make sure you go against the grain. If they have long hair, make the most of it and see if you can style it in different ways. Try blow drying it and putting it up. It’s okay to use very little product, but take advantage of hair ties and even hats. If your child has short hair, it might look cute to put them in a funky hat and find similar new accessories for their outfits.

Go Bold

While you might dress more conservatively, it might be fun to bring your child into bold clothes. Go have fun with their color combinations like you would with kids costumes. There is no reason to follow strict matching patterns. You can really teach your child about self-expression if you are willing to have fun with it all.

We live in a society that presents a mixed message as it relates to personal style. On one hand, we want our children to express themselves as people. On the other, we present them with rules, regulations, and restrictions in terms of their hair styles and clothing choices. While some parents support their children’s wish to dress the way they want, others feel that this freedom causes nothing more than problems. When you stop to think about how children’s fashion has evolved, you may find it easier to decide for your own child.

Consider the typical high school from the 1960′s. If you walked through the door, you would likely notice several groups or ‘cliques’ of kids. There would be the jocks, clean-cut and preppy dressed. The ‘hoods’ would be dressed distinctly differently. There may be a small sub-group, but for them most part you were either a jock or not.

Now, consider the typical high school today. There is a group for every kid. Goth kids in their heavy eye make-up and dark clothing. Nerds, who have embraced the floods and pocket protectors. Gear heads, metal heads, good girls, and bad boys. Today, our kids are able to express who they are in the way they choose to dress.

The question becomes is this a good thing or not. In reality, kids today focus so much energy on how they dress and how those around them look. They generalize personalities based on apparel. Maybe it isn’t a good thing. Maybe the schools that have created dress codes and rules about extreme hair styles have it right.

We can only hope we have made the right choice for our children.

Movie stars, singers and the general public love at times to experiment with hair and clothing styles. These can range from the elegant to the wild, depending on the personality of the individual.

When a major entertainer makes a dramatic change in wardrobe or hair, it can cause waves throughout the fan community. Fans are quick to copy the style, which then can be transmitted to others as the newest and latest style to mimic. This is especially true when a popular film comes out and a new style makes a hit with movie goers. Such crazes as mohawks, leg warmers and similar styles were established and set by the stars who wore them during a specific decade.

Keeping up with the dramatic changes in hair and clothing styles can often be a challenge for the fashion conscious. These styles can literally change overnight, causing what was one day to be the latest and greatest to be out of style the next. The middle of the road goal is to find those styles that have a timeless quality to them. These are the ones that weather the dramatic shifts in style with ease.

People that use this method are able to adjust their style much easier, while still leaving room to experiment with the wild side of fashion. This can be as simple as adding a dramatic color or pattern to a basic outfit. Others like to follow the changes closely. Whatever the style, there is still the fun and challenge on staying current with the trends.

Beyond the basics of creating an outfit, which can be a difficult enough task, you have to decide whether or not to accessorize it. The unencumbered outfit can be as stylish a statement as all the bangles in the world – possibly more so. On the other hand, a plain outfit might gain new life with the right accessory. As usual, it’s up to you to figure out what your outfit requires in order to make a head-turning effect.

The purse might as well be its own outfit. In some ways, it has transcended the status of “accessory” to become the defining element of fashion. What about belts? Do you choose a conservative one or a flamboyant buckle with studded leather? If you’re especially adventurous, you can make your own belt. There’s nothing that says “fashion rebel” quite like a belt made out of paperclips. You can visit www.offers.com to see what materials you can find for your rebellious constructions.

Earrings are nearly purse level, but they’re still firmly in the accessory category. There are a lot of choices in the realm of ear decoration, but, sometimes, the best thing is to leave off earrings entirely, depending on the occasion. Everyone has different tastes in earrings – some don’t like them at all, some prefer small ones and some like hoops. In fact, that’s true of most accessories: you sacrifice some mobility for the sake of fashion.

The ultimate goal of any outfit, whether you accessorize it or not, is to look good, and it takes work to look good.

Fashion followers tread a very fine line between what is considered normal and what is not. It is difficult to judge what fits, as different cultures all view it differently. For example, in some Asian cultures, body piercing is an auspicious and marked event in an individual’s life. In the West, piercing is generally frowned upon. There are so many other fashion practices that connote different meanings across various cultures.

Hair and make-up too vary among cultures and have changed throughout centuries. The laborious and painful hair-dos of Marie Antoinette days are ridiculous compared to the extremely casual slept-in hair styles that are in vogue today. It seems that even fashion has come full circle from being primitive and earthy in ancient times or arduous and painful during medieval times. Now, style is a blend of all that has passed. Today people can choose to be comfortable wearing such things as LRG Clothing or uncomfortable for the sake of style. Today it is much more of an individual choice than it was before.

Nowadays, people have the option and they prefer it in their own hands, rather than to be blinded by what is dictated. Fashion brands like LRG bring individuality to the forefront by creating looks that are urban and surprisingly refreshing, giving you the independence to choose any style. LRG clothes are very much in keeping with the times and can help you completely formulate your own style because of the wide variety of colors and graphics available. Despite the changes in the fashion world, you can still be trendy and fashionable at the same time.

Haute Couture is a French word which means ’high sewing’. For a piece of fashion to be classified as Haute Couture it must adhere to a strict list of guidelines. Not just any article of clothing can be designated with the title.

Not many people know this, but for a fashion house to be considered as Haute Couture is must be a member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. Each member must adhere to the following rules in order to keep his or her ability to label something Haute Couture.

The designer must cater to private clients on a regular basis. This means that a designer must provide made-to-order fashion which is devised in multiples sittings with the client.

The designer must have an office based in Paris. This office needs to employ 15 or more people.

The designer must present collections to the public twice a year. These collections must contain separate outfits for day and evening wear in 35 styles.

Each year a listing of designers are released to the public showing who is a member. The member list for 2011 is as follows:

Adeline Andre

Anne Valerie Hash

Atelier Gustavolins

Chanel

Christian Dior

Christopher Josse

Franck Sorbier

Givenchy

Jean Paul Gauliter

Maurizio Galante

Stephane Roland

Most Haute Couture clothing is incredibly expensive due to the workmanship and time involved in making the pieces. Some desingers can spend hundreds of hours on a single piece of Haute Couture clothing. Prices can start anywhere from around $15,000 for a simple suit, to over $100,000 for a more elaborate and ornate gown sometimes seen on the red carpets of Hollywood.

One or two earring piercings is attractive and often a subtle fashion statement. However, when it becomes more than two sets, and anywhere else other than people’s ears, it’s often considered extreme. And, piercings are no longer just your ordinary earrings. They can bring parts of the skin together often in an extreme and painful way.

A corset piercing consists of several small rings inserted into the surface area of the skin. Usually this area is on the individual’s back, thighs or legs. For the back, the rings begin near the bottom of the shoulder blades and descend downward to just above the small of the back. The rings on the corset are looped together with decorative ribbon thus resembling a corset. This is a very painful area to pierce and it requires a very steady hand and lots of care. Because the skin in this part of the body is very delicate, it has a tendency to swell. Corset piercings last no more than two days before the flesh begins to rip.

Nipple and belly button piercings are done through the thin, soft tissue of the skin. A 14-guage needle is inserted into the thin flaps of skin then a ring or stud is secured into the opening. Another piercing is called spacers. These are typically found in the ear lobe. But, more recently people have been found piercing the nostrils and their bottom lips. It may look somewhat unattractive seeing someone’s bottom jaw and teeth. But it’s a fashion statement like most extreme piercings that speaks rebellion and individuality.

Traveling is a complicated experience, because you have to consider so many additional factors. Even common activities such as shopping can become very different when you’re traveling. Your needs are different and the environment through which you’re navigating is different; it’s easy to give over to impulse and behave in ways you wouldn’t at home, such as buying too much.

In fact, it’s often the case that people on vacations tend to spend too much. That’s not because spending is an essential or pleasantly-indulged part of vacationing (although some would probably argue that). When you’re on vacation, it’s easy to buy something without thinking about it. Perhaps you’ve bought a bunch of memorabilia (itself a questionable expense, but you’ve got to have some kind of memento, right?) and need something to carry it in, so you buy a new suitcase. Or you want to attend a party but you didn’t bring much in the way of formal wear, so you buy a suit. Expenses such as these which you might think twice or thrice about at home become second nature on vacation, because you’re deliberately setting aside the normal operations of your life, and that often includes budgetary concerns.

Unfortunately, the bill collectors don’t smile and nod understandingly when you explain that you don’t really owe your debt because you were “on vacation.” It’s a good thing then that you can get a Reach Card prepaid visa. With the prepaid card, you can control your expenses with a clearly defined limit, so you always know what you can afford and what you can’t, whether you’re on a quick trip by yourself or an extended vacation with the family.

It happens all the time. It’s the night right before a big dance and your dress hasn’t been delivered yet. Or maybe you simply forgot to go shopping. How are you going to find a dress in such a short amount of time?

Begin with what’s easiest. Facebook, tweet, or text your friends and ask if anyone has an extra dress in your size that you can borrow. Don’t be discouraged if they’ve already worn it to a dance before because if you are, you aren’t going to have a dress to wear to this one. Make sure you make arrangements to have the dress dropped off or picked up well before the dance is going to start so you have time to get ready.

If you’re having trouble finding a dress, maybe you have to raid one of your sisters’ closets or even your mom’s. You may even have to look in your own closet and wear an old dress. We know, this is going to be torture. Perhaps you don’t even have anyone’s closet to raid.

So you can’t find a dress yet. You’re probably going to have to go shopping now. The problem with that is you probably already spent all your money on the dress that never arrived, or you never had any money in the first place. It’s going to be a last resort, but you may want to try the nearest Goodwill. Sometimes you can find great dresses for under $20 and no one is going to know it was used.

There are plenty of options when it comes to dresses; you just have to find a dress. You’re going to find one, but you just can’t be picky.

Frizz is probably one of the most annoying things our hair does and it’s hard to get rid of. You try to wet down your hair and revive it, but nothing seems to work. What can you do to tame your frizz?

Taming your frizz is actually a long process. If you follow certain steps, you will avoid receiving frizz. The easiest short term way is to buy a frizz preventing lotion or leave in conditioner and apply that, but sometimes that doesn’t even help. The best ways to prevent it will prevent it pretty much all the time.

Avoid using hot blow driers. This will create even more frizz. If you’re having problems with frizz while using a blow drier, that is probably the cause of your frizz. If you can use a cool setting, it will create less frizz, but you probably want it to air-dry to get the least frizz. This is more of a short term problem, but if you use it every day, it’s going to give you more frizz the more you use it.

Drinking a lot of water will prevent frizz. Not only is it great for your hair, but it will benefit your body otherwise. You don’t have to drink gallons of water every day, just the recommended amount. This will keep your hair hydrated even in the winter when the air is dry.

Using curling irons and straight irons every day will contribute to your frizz. It’s okay to use them every now and then, but when you use them every day is when you’re going to get problems. Stay away from hot tools as part of your daily beautification.

If you want to keep your hair healthy, there are products you should definitely stay away from. Plenty of people don’t notice how bad certain products are for your hair, and it’s okay to use certain products once or twice, but there are some you should definitely stay away from.

Avoid getting perms or chemically straightening your hair. If you want your hair to stay healthy, these are definitely things you want to stay away from. Many people say that after they’ve received a perm, their hair has never been the same.

Try not to color your hair too often. If you color your hair occasionally, it’s not going to permanently damage your hair to the point of no return, but if you color it every six weeks, you’re going to see a major change in the health of your hair. If you must color your hair, never use bleach. This will destroy your hair and you will never get it back until it grows out.

Avoid products that make your hair feel gross. If you don’t like it, don’t use it, but don’t be fooled by certain products that make your hair feel amazing, because they could be simultaneously destroying your hair. Read the ingredients on your shampoo and conditioner. If you really want a healthy shampoo, look for a natural one.

Certain things that you aren’t necessarily applying to your hair may be dangerous to your hair as well. Hot tools such as curling irons and straight irons may cause heat damage to your hair, which is very difficult to get rid of. Avoid using these every day, but it’s okay to use them every once in a while.

Don’t you hate it when you spend a great deal of time on your makeup only to have it run all over your face within an hour? That can be very frustrating, especially when you took so much time to make it look great. What can you do to prevent your makeup from running?
If any of your powders such as blush or eye shadow are the problem, where they never seem to stay on and flake everywhere, you may want to try a sealing powder. A sealing powder is a powder that goes on your face after all your other powders have been applied that helps keep your makeup on your face and prevents flaking.
Eye makeup is evil when it comes to smearing. One of the best ways to prevent smearing is to buy waterproof eyeliner and mascara. It’s going to be difficult to wash off, but it’s going to run a lot less. You may want to carry around extra makeup so you can reapply every now and then.
Another trick for eye makeup is to wipe under your eyes every so often using your pointer finger. Don’t use the tip of your finger, but rather lay your finger flat pointing toward your nose and push up so that you wipe off all the excess makeup.
It’s going to be difficult to keep your lipstick from rubbing everywhere. You shouldn’t have a problem with your lipstick unless you’re using your lips a lot. When you’re drinking, just be careful about the way you hold your glass to your lips. If your lipstick is running without your lips rubbing against anything, you may want to buy a new lipstick.

It’s hard to find someone who enjoys a bad hair day. We can’t stand when our hair won’t cooperate. Sometimes all we have to do is switch our hairstyle and that bad hair day will turn into a cute up do.
One of the easiest up dos that will make a bad hair day look great is a messy bun. You’re hair is obviously already messy, so why not make it cute? There are several ways to create a messy bun, but it’s all about your preference and how you like to do it. A simple way is to pull your hair back and secure like a ponytail. Take your hair and twist it around until it starts forming a bun. Leave the bun loose and secure with an elastic. Then pull pieces out until it’s as messy as you would like.
A braid can be a savior of a bad hair day. You can either make a braid from an existing ponytail or simply pull your hair together and begin your braid. Three way braids are the easiest. Divide your hair into three equal sections. Take one of the outside sections and transfer it over the middle one so that it is now the middle section. Do this with the other outside section over the new middle piece. Continue until you reach the end and secure your braid with an elastic.
Sometimes all your hair needs is an accessory to make it look great. If your bangs aren’t cooperating, try pulling your bangs back and securing with a clip. If you put your hair up and you don’t like the look of it, maybe all you need is a headband to make it look great. Maybe you simply need to put a bow in your hair. Don’t give up on your hair when a simple hairpiece can save your bad hair day.

Extreme fashion trends come and go and have been a part of our culture for centuries. It seems that fashion has such a strong pull that endangering one’s life or the chance for a deformity all in the name of “fashion” does not seem to deter the most intense fashion divas.

One fashion trend that has found its way back into fashion recently is extremely long earrings. This became popular in the 1980s and seems to be finding its way back into the fashion scene over the past few years. The danger of long earrings or large hoop earrings is their ability to get caught on things and pull out of the ear. This causes an injury to the ear that has to be surgically repaired.

Colored or novelty contact lenses have become a major fashion accessory. Unfortunately, it has become easy to purchase these lenses over-the-counter or online. Users are not receiving proper training or care while wearing these and tend to use them incorrectly and suffer eye infections as a result. Contact lenses of any kind should not be used without a doctor’s supervision.

Some of the most common fashion items that are used by nearly everyone have dangers involved as well. In fact, many hair colors contain carcinogens, which are chemicals that are known to cause cancer. Your clothing might be another source of toxins that can be introduced into your body. Synthetic leather, waterproof clothing, or clothing that is labeled as “easy care” or “easy iron” contains harmful chemicals which can release fumes throughout their lifetime. In fact, a dangerous chemical used in dry cleaning stays in your clothing and can contaminate your body and even your home. This chemical attacks the nervous system and can cause issues such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, and even reproductive issues.

Every business can benefit from having a web presence. Some businesses rely completely on a website presence, never actually existing in a brick and mortar format. For example, you can decide to run a clothing store completely online, providing customers with a way to buy fashion clothing on the Internet without having to set foot in a store or a dressing room. If you decide that you want to run a clothing store online, you should be aware of some of the tactics that you can employ in order to improve customer satisfaction. Your primary concern should be to constantly improving upon your customer service, offering high quality products and solid customer service so that your customers are always satisfied with their interactions with your company. In order to determine whether you are meeting the needs of your customers, you can use a customer satisfaction survey. A customer satisfaction survey is going to help you interface with your customers. You can use these surveys to ask your customers about their experience. How would they rate their experience? Would they recommend your store to their friends or family members? Will they shop with you again in the future? Ask these and other simple but insightful questions and you will be able to gain some truly vital insight into the good and bad about your company. You can apply all of the information that you receive to how you do business, and in that way you will be able to improve your business with time. Customer surveys are a great way to find out what your customers think about you. The information that they provide you with will be able to be applied to your business so that you can make improvements and greatly improve upon the strengths of your company. If you want to know about your strengths and weaknesses, simply ask your customers because they will be honest with you.

In tenth century China women would break and bind their feet to keep them small and achieve the look of a Lotus flower bud. This practice caught on and the wealthiest families began breaking and binding their young daughter’s feet to achieve this status symbol look. This led to crippling and an inability to walk. It must have been incredibly painful to endure.
The corset was used in fashion off-and-on from the fifteen century until the nineteenth century when a small waistline became essential to fashion. Over tightening corsets led to crush injuries and deformities of the ribs, which in turn led to miscarriages and other physical ailments. Doctors continually warned women of the dangers of wearing corsets, and blamed corset wearing to 97 different diseases or ailments.
In the late sixteenth century pale skin was a must. Tanned skin indicated a life of hardship and labor. The most popular way to achieve the pale skin was called “ceruse” which was a mixture of white lead and vinegar. This mixture was applied to the face, neck, and bosom. This would continually poison the wearer until they began to develop skin lesions, rotting teeth, hair loss, and eventually death.
Through the years, extremes in foot fashion including high platform shoes, stiletto heels, “stilt” style shoes, etc. have led to many, many accidents and injuries caused by these. Some of these shoe styles have been bulky, heavy, and difficult to balance in. This has caused issues with legs and feet as well as difficulty walking and balancing resulting in injuries.

There have been fashion extremes coming and going for centuries. In fact, some extreme fashions caught on and took hold lasting sometimes for one thousand years or more. Some of the things that catch on as a fashion are harmless enough, while others can cause serious injury, even death. Over the centuries there have been body altering fashions as well as clothing fashions that stood over the test of time.

In China during the tenth century royal families created the “lotus foot.” Royal women decided that they wanted to achieve the look of a tiny foot that looked like a lotus blossom. They began binding their feet in an effort to duplicate this look. This fashion trend caught on quickly and soon the wealthiest families began breaking and binding their daughter’s feet at very young ages to keep their feet small in an effort to achieve the lotus foot. This fashion extreme continued for over one thousand years until it was finally outlawed in 1949.

In the eleventh century European women of importance needed a way to set themselves apart from the lower class due to the fact that only local sources of fabrics were available such as fur and wool. These women began removing all of the hair on their faces and even the front part of their heads in an effort to set themselves apart. This fashion extreme also lasted for over one thousand years. It began in approximately 500 A.D. and stuck around until well into the Elizabethan era.

There have been many, many other fashion extremes through time such as elaborate headdresses for upper class women, bone crushing corsets, big wigs, or bustles. Some of these were simply a harmless fashion statement, although possibly uncomfortable, while others caused physical deformities.

There are a thousand ways to wear your hair. Two basic ways to wear your hair is either up or down, but there are so many ways to do either. Sometime you can wear half of it up and half of it down, but there’s more ways to wear your hair up than there is to wear it down.

The simplest way to wear your hair up is in a ponytail. Even though ponytails are so simple, there are several different ways to wear it. You can wear a ponytail high, low, or in the middle. To do a ponytail, simply brush all your hair together and secure with an elastic.

Another simple way to wear your hair up is in braids. Braids are so simple, but there are even more ways to do braids than to do ponytails. There are several different types of braids, but the easiest and most common is the three-way braid. You can do as many braids as you want, but to begin one, gather all your hair together. You can secure it with an elastic, or do it without one. Divide your hair into three sections and fold one of the outer sections over the middle section, then the other outer section over that new middle section. Continue this until you get to the end of your hair and secure with an elastic.

A messy bun is an easy way to wear your hair up as well. Start with a ponytail wherever you want your bun on your head. Twirl your hair until it starts curling around the ponytail. Continue until your hair is completely wrapped around. Remember to keep it loose. Secure with a ponytail elastic. Pull pieces out until it is as messy as you would like.

Some of these hairstyles look great in different ways. You can place them wherever you want on your head. This will create a different look even though it’s the same type of hairstyle. Experiment with different up dos until you find certain ones you like and that are easy for you.

After the holidays and a seemingly endless winter, it can be a struggle to get back into those Apple Bottom jeans! Although it won’t make you feel any better, you definitely aren’t alone. Let’s take a look at the best ways to get ready for those slinky spring fashions:

Cut Back a Little Bit Now

Instead of waiting to the last minute, cutting back on the sweets and fatty foods now is a good plan. If depriving yourself at the last minute always sends you on a junk-food binge, try this approach. Instead of cutting out your favorites, why not simply add some of the good stuff? Before you have your regular meal, enjoy a piece of fruit or a few raw vegetables like celery or carrot sticks. They will not only fill you up a little bit before you sit down to a full meal, they’ll also supply extra vitamins and minerals to curb your cravings. After a few days, you may find that you are less interested in the more calorie-laden dishes.

Add Just a Little Exercise to Start

Many people feel that they have to go all out to lose a little weight. This is definitely not true! Just like you started slowly replacing your bad food choices with better ones, you can start out slowly with your exercise program. If you’ve been fairly lazy all winter, start out with a five or ten minute walks each day. As you begin to feel better, you’ll be motivated to slowly increase your pace and your time. Before you know it, regular exercise will become part of your daily routine! Most experts say that 30 minutes a day of exercise is enough for most people. If you’re pressed for time, make this a priority! Aren’t you worth 30 little minutes each day?

By starting out slowly, you’ll develop lifelong habits and never have to worry about gaining weight in the future!

Not everyone can wear the same hairstyle and look great. Each person is an individual and needs to consider several things when choosing a hairstyle that will compliment them the most. One of the things to consider when choosing a hairstyle is your face shape. Different face shapes will look best with different hairstyles. While one person may look best with a short wispy style another person looks best with longer locks.

How do you determine what your face shape is? Your face can be oval, oblong, round, square, heart, or diamond shaped. It is difficult to be objective about your own face shape but your hairdresser can help you determine which shape you have. However, if you would like to determine this for yourself there are some things you can do to help you with this.

You will need to take some measurements of your face to determine your particular face shape. You will be measuring across your forehead, cheek to cheek, from the point of your hairline to the tip of your chin, and across your jaw line. Once you have all of your measurements done and written down it is time to determine the shape of your face.

If you have an oval face your measurements will show that the length of your face is equal to one and a half times the width. A round face is approximately as wide as it is long and will physically have a round appearance. If your face is oblong it will be longer than it is wide. The heart shaped face is narrow at the jaw line and wider at the forehead and/or cheekbones. With a square face you will find your face will be approximately as wide as it is long. A diamond shaped face is widest at the cheekbones with a narrow forehead and jaw line; the forehead and jaw line will be close to equal in width.

As we age our makeup choices need to change. When you are in your teens and early 20s you can get away with extreme makeup fashions, bright colors, thick and dark eyeliners, bright lips, etc. However, wearing the same makeup in your 50s as you did in your 20s can actually cause you to look older rather than younger.

A heavy concealer or foundation will actually settle into fine lines and wrinkles and accentuate rather than cover them. There are many makeup companies that now make moisturized foundations for mature skin that stop makeup from settling into those fine lines. Use one of these or switch to a lighter foundation.

Powder is meant to help soak up excess oils in the face, with is usually not an issue over the age of 30. Applying layers and layers of powder to the face can dry it out adding to wrinkles and fine lines.

Another common mistake women make is to pluck their eyebrows down to thin little lines and then use an eyebrow pencil to draw them back on! Leave your eyebrows alone other than to do some basic grooming. Thicker eyebrows will give your a more youthful look.

Keep your lip color natural. Apply a lip liner that is close to your natural lip color to help keep lipstick from bleeding and will accentuate the shape of the lips. Using moisturizing lipstick to keep lips from drying out is important as well.

Update your style every few years. Sticking with the same makeup styles and colors you have used for years can age you. However, that does not mean you should try to keep up with the latest makeup trends. The bright eyes shadow and colored mascara you wore in your teens or 20s will not look good when you are in your 50s.

The best advice for you as you age is to lighten up your makeup and tone it down. Instead of focusing on your makeup style it is time to focus on your skin. Keep it healthy, clean, and moisturized.

Once you have determined your face shape you can now make some decisions on the best hairstyle for you. If your face is oval or diamond-shaped you can wear just about any hairstyle and look great! Oval shaped faces look best with hair pulled away from the face. If your face is diamond-shaped you may want to keep weight at the nape of the neck to balance out your delicate chin line.

If you have a rectangular or oblong face shape you may want to consider a short or medium hairstyle to look your best. Fullness at the sides of the face with wispy bangs tends to soften the look of longer face shapes.

A round face shape needs fullness and height at the crown. Wearing the hair in an off-centered part will help reduce the fullness of the round face. Long styles are best for this face shape. To give the illusion of length and reduced fullness of the face, layering the top to get fullness and leaving the rest of the hair cut relatively close to the face can achieve this.

Short to medium length hair looks best on someone with a square face. Wavy or curly hair around the face is especially softening. Wispy bangs can also help to soften the sharpness of a square face. Off centered parts with height in the crown area look great with a square face!

If your face is more heart-shaped you may want to consider chin length or longer hairstyles. A chin length bob is an excellent choice for the heart-shaped face! Layers that are swept forward around the upper part of the face with wispy bangs would be another style to try. However, if choosing shorter styles you will want to keep weight at the nape of the neck to balance out dramatic cheekbones and narrow chin.

With a triangular face, short hair balances a prominent jaw line. You will need layers to get the fullness you need in the upper part of your face. A shag style cut, wedge, or center part works well for this face shape.

People either love or hate Emo kids. Maybe that’s the purpose. No one really knows exactly how to define Emo, but you can bet that Emo attitude makes the best Emo Hair. Some people pay hundreds of dollars to get the Emo look on their locks, but kids who don’t have that kind of cash can do it themselves by being creative and really exploring their personalities.

Emo can be pouty and sad, it can be emotional and sensitive, and it can be very cool. Our hairstyle defines us. Emo hair can be subtle or it can be an extreme hairstyle with far out colors and jagged edges.

Emo hair is usually black, so getting that extreme look will require some hair dye. The hairstyles are also defined by asymmetrical lines and jagged edges. That means the hair has to be longer. The best Emo attitude doesn’t really mind if the hair gets messed up in self experimentation. Emo is all about expression, good and bad. Emo hair is usually parted to one side with locks falling across the face and hiding one eye. This may be a way of expressing hidden feelings or being just a little mysterious.

Emo hair is usually not spiky or big. The idea is to be moody, so the hair is falling downward, not jumping up with excitement. If making that jagged, crazy extreme hair will get a kid in trouble, it’s easy to have instant Emo hair by parting the existing style on the side and combing the hair over one eye.

However, some of the most interesting Emo styles take hours to achieve with hair products and blow dryers. It could be that self expression includes two tone hair. Maybe there’s a lighter tint underneath with bold black on the surface. Maybe it’s just some crazy died pattern in the hair.

Get creative and expressive, and show your Emo.

Extreme hairstyles require extreme care. After all, these outrageous, eye catching styles mean lots of products and blow drying. The extreme look can be very damaging, so get radical with your care, too.

There are many products that claim to keep extreme hairstyles looking good for a long time, and some work. The problem is the cost of getting that healthy look after unhealthy manipulation of your locks. Sometimes you’ll need to tone it down and look more professional, so you want to go from extreme hair that stands out, to beautiful hair that shows your class. Salon products can help keep your hair healthy, but they may cost more than you want to pay. Here are a few things you can do to keep your hair looking good all of the time.

It will be costly at the beginning, but it will last a long time. Buy some pure jojoba oil. You can find this at most health food stores. It costs about one dollar per ounce, but it won’t take much to keep your hair, and even your skin, healthy. Also buy some organic shampoo. Try to get all the chemicals out of your cleansing routine. The extreme hairstyles can only be achieved with chemicals, so the extreme care needs to be void of them.

Wash your hair daily. Then before you dry off, work the jojoba oil into it. If you can go a day or so without doing the extreme coif, then your hair can heal and rest. Don’t even blow dry it on that day. Just get lazy and let it rest. It’s good to get your hair cut on a regular basis. This way you can eliminate frizzy split ends and really damaged locks. It’s also a time to begin anew with another extreme hairstyle. Extreme is defined by cutting edge creativity.

Ghetto has become very cool in the mainstream, and ghetto hair is one of the most obvious ways to start fitting into the scene. It’s one thing to look ghetto, but it’s another thing to look authentically ghetto. You need to understand what ghetto hair really is and how it became so cool.

Ghettos were traditionally defined as places where poor, ethnic people lived. Since people were so poor, they had to be very resourceful and imaginative to get an extreme hairstyle, like ghetto hair. No one style defines this kind of hairstyle. It is about standing out to express your own personality.

Blacks have been the real trendsetters with ghetto hair because the texture of their hair is perfect for sculpting extreme hairstyles that fit the individual. The hair would change daily and often included extreme color accents. Sometimes it was an updo, and other times it might be classy braids or straight, short bobs. For the white or Hispanic women, an updo defined a daring, wild girl, so girls would pile the hair up high in a messy fashion. It looked a little sophisticated, but a little trashy. It was super sexy.

Even the big stars are going for ghetto hair. Superstars, like Rhianna, change their hair daily, it seems. The whole world is watching her every move, so she has really brought ghetto extreme hairstyles into the mainstream. Even white stars, like Pink, go for ghetto. It’s definitely a major fashion trend in the hip hop scene, but even some other scenes are picking it up as a fashion statement. It’s a great way to loosen up a conservative image and really get noticed.

If you’re creating your own ghetto style, you can certainly follow the stars, but the very best ghetto hair is the kind you create yourself. Some styles do take a really long time, as they may require treatments to straighten hair, but they’ll look super cool.

The second decade of the new millennium sees a resurgence of the early seventies with subtle differences. Neutrals in sleek elegant lines by day and bold colors by night. Fabrics are plain and of natural materials like cotton. The recent military look is replaced by the more fun and flirty Nautical theme with white and navy being the dominant colors.

Jewelry is also more retro with the idea that “less is more.” While jewelry may be bold and bright, it will be limited to a few choice items. Classic, high quality items like pearls are likely to make a comeback with more silver and bronze metals being used. High craftsmanship and artistic design will feature prominently and the likes of Aaron Basha with his silver and platinum creations will do well in 2011.

Fashion trends are set by society not by designers so what the people think an important consideration when trying to predict the next mega trend. Society is tired of war, hence the regression of camouflage and the emergence of the “naughty nautical” theme which is more fun. Eco-friendly is a concern of society and it will only increase. Thus discerning buyers will be looking for quality, endurance and sustainability when choosing fashion and jewelry accessories.

Buyers will be concerned about conflict free diamonds, pearls and cotton fabrics which are renewable, and the highest quality they can afford in precious metals as they will become time honored treasure to be passed on from generation to generation, rather than being tossed next fashion season. A positive move in trying to adapt to climate change, people will be more aware of what they are wearing and try to avoid unwarranted waste, opting for better quality and innovative design.

Burlesque is hot this season because two of the biggest names in entertainment are bringing it to the big screen. Cher is a household name, and Christina Aguilera is one of the hottest acts to follow her. Since the movie is rated PG-13, don’t expect their burlesque to be as hot as the real thing.

Burlesque is a sexy style of entertainment that mixes humor and racy outfits with fun dancing and singing. It has a long history that dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries when it was mostly parody with social and political implications. The grotesque became more prominent in the U.S., and its intended audience was the lower classes.

Today, burlesque is associated with high fashion and glamor. The golden age of film comes to mind as women wear their hair and make-up like the big screen stars of the old Hollywood days. Before making a transformation to burlesque, make sure your skin is very clean and with extra moisturizer. The burlesque style make-up is very heavy and smooth. It has a cake or powdery look to it, so there can be no shine. The colors are crisp and bold and the brow is strong.

The make-up has to be crease resistant, and it has to stay fresh looking. There’s really nothing natural looking about burlesque, but that’s the point. Remember it verges on parody, so this new extreme style will be just this side of outrageous.

Vintage style hair is a must to complete the burlesque look. Find pictures of some of the old movie queens and work to complete your look. Get sexy with the clothes. The ultimate effect should be that of a 1940′s or 1950′s pinup girl. Rita Hayworth is a great example of classy, sexy, pinup model. She evoked fantasy without losing her class.

Extreme isn’t always as cutting edge as we want it to be. Sometimes it’s the classic look of the pinup girl that really defines extreme. If you’re style has been hip hop, beach style, or something ultra modern, you can really wow your friends with this cool about face.

The classic pinup girl was not tacky or trashy. She was racy in a sophisticated way. What made her look extreme was the makeup. It was bold and daring. In the golden age of Hollywood, strong makeup was a sign of glamor. To mix glamor and sexiness was the perfect formula for a young man’s fantasies.

If you want to try a throwback style for your new extreme, here are a few tips for getting the pinup girl look. Start with a clean, moisturized face. To make your face flawless, use a makeup primer. Apply a medium or heavy foundation and make sure it is smoothed on your face evenly. You want to cover any blotches or natural freckles, etc. You’ll need an eye makeup primer before creating your eyeshadow.

Eyebrows should be groomed and even. They do not need to be thinned. They just need to be neat with no bare patches. There should be no stray hairs. They should have a well defined arch. The eyelashes should be dark, but not black. Curl them and apply fake lashes to the top. The pinup girl knew how to bat her eyes. Use black mascara to blend the fake lashes with your real ones.

The lips should be full and of a deep color. Usually the classic pinup girl had red lips, but other deep colors will work, too. Since you’re creating a classic extreme in a modern world, the lip color and eye shadow colors should compliment your clothes. The classic blending should help you pull off the elegant side of sexy.

Now you’re an extreme throwback to classic style.

Everybody is going natural and organic, but it can be a really expensive way to go. There is a budget natural soap that will leave your skin super clean. It’s been around for 171 years! It’s Kirk’s Original Coco Castile. This natural soap is made from coconut oil, water and vegetable glycerin. Usually, natural soaps cost about five dollars a bar, but Kirk’s Castile is only $1.39 a bar. That makes it a real bargain for the budget minded.

Another problem with budget natural soaps are that they usually don’t lather up very well. Again, this great coconut based bar of soap lathers up a lot. It also rinses away very nicely, so your skin is left feeling very clean and soft.

Kirk’s Castile is probably thought of as a body wash kind of soap, but it’s moisturizing, natural properties make it good for cleaning your face, too. It makes such a nice lather that it will totally clean even the most extreme makeup off. Coconut oil is thought to be one of the most nutritious oils for the skin, so it’s a nourishing clean.

If extreme fashion includes makeup that is up to the moment trendy, then you have to keep the skin in good shape. A good natural soap is a really good way to be good to yourself. Kirk’s Castile isn’t especially trendy, so that keeps the price down. You might call it one of the skin care industry’s best kept secrets.

This budget natural soap may not be available at all stores, but you can definitely find it wherever organic and natural food and cosmetics are sold. Also, many mainstream grocery stores will either carry it or will order it. Many people use this soap because of sensitive skin, so it’s easier to find than many name brand natural and organic soaps on the market today.

Organic and natural are considered the healthiest way to keep your hair and skin in great condition. Today’s extreme styles can really damage hair, so it’s good to find a product without chemicals to wash it. Natural shampoos are really expensive. When compared to major brand products, they can be as much as four times the price. No doubt, their worth it, but everyone deserves to use a natural shampoo to keep hair healthy.

One of the biggest natural and organic retailers in America is Whole Foods. Like many major stores, they carry a private label brand. And like the others, it’s designed to give the budget minded a chance to enjoy the latest natural products on the market.

Whole Foods brand of inexpensive natural shampoo is the 360 brand. This shampoo is only few dollars a bottle rather than $10 a bottle. Early formulas were criticized for not lathering very well, and we all know that you need a good lather to get all the extreme hair product off the locks. However, it seems the company has corrected this problem, so now their 360 shampoo really lathers nicely, and it leaves the hair clean.

It comes in a variety of natural fragrances, too. There is a lavender scent that smell like the actual plant rather than like some fake perfume version of lavender. There’s a great mint scent, too. This one will please the guys. After all, extreme hair isn’t just for the girls.

What does it mean to be a natural shampoo? It means the product is free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, artificial fragrance, and it isn’t tested on animals. The reason the 360 brand smells real is because it is. They use actual essential oils from the plants they scent the product with. There are usually other natural plant extracts in the product, too. They might include rosemary, lemon and thyme.

It’s definitely a natural clean that keeps hair healthy.

Makeup and hair products leave a lot of foreign matter on our skin and in our hair. If the world isn’t dirty enough, these beauty enhancers are just one more thing to clog the pores and kick start acne. People have fought to get rid of this skin burden forever, and often they just give up and cover the blemishes with more dirty makeup. You might find it surprising that you can fight oily skin with oil.

Oily skin is caused by an over production of the sebaceous glands. The oil gets into the pores and gives the skin a porous look. The pores are enlarged, so dirt and make up get in and cause pimples and blackheads. It seems logical that soap and astringents would be the way to cleanse the pores. However fighting oily skin can be done with oil. The oil in question is jojoba oil. This is a plant based product that comes from the jojoba plant. It is the closest thing to the skin’s natural oils.

When jojoba oil is applied to the skin, it’s similarity to skin oils fools the sebaceous glands into thinking they’ve produced enough. The jojoba actually will draw toxins up out of the pores and cleanse them. The skin will look smoother and less oily. It seems weird that an oil would save your face, but it will.

Wash your face really well at night and then apply a thin layer of jojoba oil. When you wake up in the morning you skin will not be oily, and it will have a natural texture to it. With continued use, the jojoba oil will begin to ease the burden of acne. In that way, oil is fighting oil. It’s all about fooling the body.

Jojoba is a great hair moisturizer, too, so you might want to try it in your hair to prevent acne on the scalp.

The name of the game in 2011 for trends in jewelry might just be go bold or go home. Designers are creating colorful, unusual and large pieces. Instead of complimenting your outfit, these designs will stand out and command attention. Look for noticeable necklaces, oversized bracelets, and flashy earrings to be in demand and on all the hottest fashion models. Following in this over the top theme, keep an eye out for motifs that stand out from the crowd. You will see a lot of elements of animals like snakes, birds, elephants, bugs and others to be incorporated into the design of the jewelry. You will also see other motifs like flowers and coins in this year’s fashions.

Some other trends include designs that are all metal. This jewelry is not made of traditional precious metals. Instead, it is made of lightweight metal materials and is large in size. The designs themselves are also a little off the beaten path as they are more angular and oddly shaped. Pairing a nice, metal necklace with a stainless steel Carl F. Bucherer watch would be a great way to make a statement when you hit the town this year.

Some other things to keep an eye out for when they hit the stores is jewelry that has fringe added to it. These pieces will compliment the newest fashion trend in clothing and other accessories as fringe is expected to be big in those arenas of fashion as well. To go along with the theme of bold, be on the lookout for large retro inspired rings and over-sized square bangles. As you can see, the 2001 trends in jewelry are not for those looking to not be noticed. This year’s fashions will get you noticed because if you want to be in style then you will have to be big and bold.

The eternal side part is back, but this coming summer, it will be the extreme side part that sets the trend setters apart from the pack. Side parts are eternally youthful, but they can be incorporated into just about every style today. Not only can this simple technique give you a totally new look, but it won’t require an expensive trip to a salon.

The runways are already rife with extreme side parts. Some are neat, clean and straight to show off that smooth healthy hair that defines the girl next door. Some of the styles are mussed up, curly locks that have been swept to the side in extreme fashion to give the model a free spirited appeal. The extreme side part can also help update the classic updo. It gives this uptown style a new angle that can re-frame the face and give a total make-over with a simple motion of the comb.

In many ways, this season’s hair trend is paying homage to some of the classic hairstyles of the Twentieth Century. Audrey Hepburn comes to mind when thinking of that slick, parted updo, and the models do seem to be channeling her classic, yet eternally youthful style.

That’s what it’s all about. The side part always signals that the person under those locks is just a little youthful and fun loving. It is a simple expression of freedom and excitement. With longer locks, the extreme side part can be used to make the hair cover one eye and create a mysterious air. Emo hairstyles have been incorporating this kind of part for some time.

A few words of warning. Experiment with parting the hair on both sides to figure out which way best frames the face. This extreme angle can be unflattering if done incorrectly. Make sure you analyze your features before incorporating this extreme hair style technique.

When we’re young, we love to get that incredible tawny tan that signifies how healthy we are. In fact, it’s incredibly unhealthy to take on that kind of sun exposure. In the long run, the skin will lose it’s beauty and leave the face looking dried, wrinkled, and discolored. Although sun damage can’t be completely reversed, there are remedies that will reduce it.

The very first thing to do is wear sun screen. It’s never too late, and if you want to stop the increasing damage, start wearing sun screen every time you’re in the sun. It’s the most important remedy for sum damage.

Retin-A and Vitamin A cream can normalize sun damaged skin by plumping it up and helping the skin rid itself of dead cells. Also, exfoliate regularly. This will help reverse the effects of sun damage by sloughing off dead skin cells. You can also apply antioxidants like Vitamin C and Green Tea to your skin to help improve its health. Antioxidants will neutralize toxin by-products caused by sun damage to the skin.

Laser treatments, chemical peels and microdermabrasion are salon treatments that can remove broken capillaries and lessen uneven skin tone. They’ll also reduce the effect of wrinkles and leathery skin.

Exercise will also give your skin a healthy glow. Where it won’t make the ugly spots and wrinkles go away, it will help you continue to have that youthful, outdoorsy appeal that you had hoped to get by sunbathing. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables that are rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin A. There is also research suggesting that lycopene helps rejuvenate the skin. Lycopene is found in tomatoes. Like the vitamins, it’s a natural antioxidant, and any kind of body repair is about reducing the free radicals and getting the systems back to full health.

As any girl knows, health and beauty products are an essential purchase every month. Unfortunately, skin care and make up products can also be very expensive. Cutting corners with expenses will leave you with more money to spend on other things you like. Whether you want to save up to go on holiday or set up your own gazebos, it is a good idea to save money where you can on other expenses. Luckily, there are a number of ways you can save money on beauty products.

It is a good idea to visit the website of your favorite pharmacy. Here you will be able to sign up for email updates about special offers and new deals they are releasing. You can also sign up for any rewards schemes they have so that when you buy things from them you will be able to save points and get future purchases for discounted rates.

You should also check out forums online so that you can talk to fellow beauty product enthusiasts about where to find deals. Doing a simple Google search for the name of your favorite brands should provide you with a number of forums where you can interact with others. You should always check the rules of the particular forum you are considering posting in to make sure that you aren’t inadvertently breaking the rules with your posts.

You can also find some good second hand deals online. People occasionally sell make up and beauty products on sites like eBay. Obviously these have to be unopened and unused, but often people receive products as presents for Christmas and birthdays which they don’t want. The best thing to do is sell it online for a discounted price—which is where you come in! Other sites like Amazon also have marketplace areas where you can buy second hand goods.

Vampires are hot! In fact, they’re so cool, it’s fun to look like one. Whether you’re going to a costume party or just trying to be extremely mysterious, there are a few simple things you can do to pull off the vampire look.

You don’t need extreme styles to be a vampire. After all, they are old creatures from more conservative times, so pull out the low key colors in your wardrobe and wear those. Grays, blacks, khakis, and greens are good choices. Elegant dresses, nice pants and shirts, and even a little ironing will help you pull off the look.

Vampires are deathly white, so your skin should be a few shades lighter than its normal color. Girls can just lighten their makeup shade to get that vampire look. Boys will need to put a light powder or foundation on their faces. Don’t go too extreme or it will look fake. All of the modern day vampire shows are about creatures who blend in with society. If you’re into the Twilight series, you might add a little glitter to your skin so you glow like Edward.

The teeth are the most distinguishing feature on a vampire. It would look corny to walk around wearing fangs, so go for super white teeth instead. Over the counter products are available to help you achieve this. A simple home remedy would be to rub a lemon peel on your teeth and let the natural acid clean off some of the stains that are left by soda and coffee.

Finally, to move like a vampire you have to be super strong and super fast. Walk faster than normal. Try to tone up and be look more strong. Eat healthy and take good care of yourself so you can pull off the superhuman strength of a vampire.

Don’t take it too seriously because some people may think your new style is a little weird. Just have fun.

Nothing says daring, glamorous and extreme like bold, red lipstick. If applied properly it can be an attention grabbing makeup effect. If worn improperly, it can spell disaster. Like any extreme style, it has to be practiced before it is presented. Here are a few tips for wearing red lipstick.

Not all red lipstick shades work on all skin types. Olive skinned people look best with a strong red, Caucasian people look best with a delicate red, and ebony skinned people look best with a hint of brown in the red lipstick. Ivory skinned people should not wear red lipstick on a daily basis. It should be reserved for a very dramatic effect.

Age can be the make or break for a woman wearing red lipstick. It is not good for teenage girls, and older women can look even older if they try to wear it. It is good for younger women, but not too young.

It is very important that red lipstick does not bleed after it is applied. Otherwise it will be a very embarrassing and frightening look. Therefore, red lipstick needs a little preventative maintenance to be worn. Face powder needs to be dabbed around the outer lines of the lipstick to fill in the tiny wrinkles that are there. These little wrinkles are where lipstick tends to bleed. A lip brush is the most effective way to get the powder into the lines.

Most importantly, explore and research the various famous effects of red lipstick. Marilyn Monroe was the ultimate glamor girl, and she really made a splash with this extremely hot color. Red lips are a great contrast for black and white photography. If you’re short on time and need to go from daytime look to evening style in a flash, a tube of red lipstick can make the quick change for you with a fast, sexy change of color.

Get extreme with red and get noticed.

Many of the folks in Hollywood enjoy having cooks, maids and stylists at their beck and call. Someone comes in and styles you every day, picks out your wardrobe, your shoes and jewelry–how wonderful it must be to have it all done for you! Some actresses even boast that they employ several nannies at a time to help care for their children. All of this is great, but for the average person who doesn’t have access to those resources, there are other ways to go about getting it all done, having it all, and doing it all on a budget that’s perhaps a fifth of the celebrity’s budget.

Don’t underestimate the taste that you have in your styling efforts, even if it means pairing those trusted, weathered jeans with a great pair of shoes and a nice blouse. For the everyday woman, it’s all about being creative and using what you’ve got. If you only have a few things, but they’re quality items, you’ll fare much better than having a closet full of clothes, shoes and purses that are not fit to wear, are too little, or are outdated.

For the fashion-challenged, finding help may be as close as the computer. A fashion software download lets you put in your fashion tastes and preferences. You’ll get back suggested styles and colors that are perfect for you. You can customize the software to fit your style, and create a look that rivals Rodeo Drive any day! After all, those Hollywood types didn’t all start off with a fashion stylist on their payroll, right?

Always use what you have at your disposal and make the most of it by adding things that dress it up, spice it up and make you feel good about being you.

Rock is about extremes. The music is rebellious and cutting edge. It’s loud and free spirited and it gets noticed, so the clothes have to get noticed, too. Here are some of the best rock clothing styles for the real rocking rebel.

Skinny jeans are the pant of choice for the rocker girl. They’re just a little bit punk and whole of rebellious attitude. They can be worn with sneakers or heals, and the top can help change the whole effect of this rock clothing staple.

Today’s rock t-shirts are tight fitting with a soft, worn look. They always have cool graphics on the front. These graphics often celebrate the rock stars of days gone by. The eternal rock clothing symbol is the peace sign, so you can never go wrong with it emblazoned across your chest.

Dresses and skirts are all about being naughty when you’re in rock clothes. The skirts are usually mini skirts. Some are tight fitting and some are playful schoolgirl styles. Whether it’s leather or pleats and plaid, the little skirt should be a little racy. Leather and rubber are hot dress styles in rock clothing. They signify that the wearer is a tough dominatrix who can hold her own.

Today’s rocker girl is wearing cool sneakers, heavy biker boots and and sexy high heal boots. Depending on the style of rock n roll you enjoy, you’ll want your shoe to fit the image. The classic Converse is almost always in style with rock clothing.

Leather jackets and hoodies are the outer wear that the rock clothing fashionista will be wearing. However, today’s leather jackets are more streamlined and fitted.

The final piece to completing a great rock clothing style, is the jewelery. It has to be silver or stainless steel, and it has to be Gothic and heavy. Heavy crosses, skeletons and skulls are the best choices.

Don’t forget to wear your attitude.

Natural cosmetic companies are beginning to tout the benefits of willow bark in acne treatments. To the uneducated shopper, this sounds mysterious and miraculous, but a little research will reveal that this natural product has been used for 6,000 years. It’s been used for many remedies, but willow bark to treat acne seems to be the groundbreaking component of willow bark’s properties.

Willow bark is a source of salicylate. It is used to treat pain, prevent cancer and reduce inflammation. Think of it as natural aspirin. This well known pain reliever is salicylic acid. Skin care experts have known for some time that salicylic acid is a great cure for acne. What no one had done until recently is recognize that willow bark could be marketed to the natural skin care community for it salicylic acid.

Will the willow bark acne products work? Probably. They’ll cost quite a bit more than traditional acne treatments that contain salicylic acid, but people who want to avoid parabens and artificial fragrances may prefer a natural source of the salicylate.

One way to get a natural acne treatment with salicylic acid is to simply use aspirin. Like a willow bark product, it won’t contain the chemicals that health conscious consumers try to avoid. To use simple aspirin, wash the face and dry it. Crush an aspirin in a spoon, and slowly add drops of water until a thick paste is formed. Put the paste on the pimple and leave it 10 to 15 minutes. Once it is dry, wash it off and use witch hazel as a skin toner. Aspirin is drying, so also use a moisturizer that won’t make skin oily.

The pro to the willow bark products is that they will already contain moisturizers to protect the skin, and there will likely be product lines that put the willow bark in the whole regime from soap to moisturizer.

Skinny jeans are the base ingredient for an Emo outfit, but they’re more than that. Skinny jeans work in many genres. If you know how to accessorize your super slim pants, then you can avoid being mistaken for Emo.

Rock n’ roll musicians are often found wearing skinny jeans. They’ll pair them with cool biker boots or Converse canvas shoes, and their shirts will have cool graphics. Emo kids might own a pair of black Converse shoes, but there won’t be anything cool and happy about their t-shirt. Emo is about angst and pain. Rock n roll is about free spirited rebellion and having a good time. For this reason, the rock skinny jean might be some crazy pattern that makes them extra fun to wear, rather than a simple black color.

Punk and skinny jeans go together, too. Historically, punk rockers have been skinny rebellious types. They aren’t trying to demonstrate sadness and emotion. They’re about pushing the envelop and turning the norm on its ear. You won’t see the downward Emo hair falling over a punk’s eye. The skinny jeans will be under a radical fauxhawk or awesome spikes and color.

Skinny jeans are always about youthfulness, but it’s not always the Emo version of lost and depressed teenagers. Sometimes it’s about the fun and adventure that comes to us when we’re young. Most of us can’t even wiggle into a pair of skinny jeans once we graduate from high school, so by design, they don’t work on older people.

Even though they look painfully tight, they’re surprisingly comfortable to wear. Therefore, Emo kids aren’t wearing them to torture themselves. Skinny jean are just part of the Emo uniform. They just happen to be part of the rock n roll and punk uniform, too. Skinny jeans should probably be a wardrobe staple for today’s teenagers.

Spring colors usually mean soft, cool splashes of blues, pinks and yellows. They don’t usually include warm colors typically associated with fall and winter, but this spring, designers are getting bold and doing what the color experts said should never be done. They’re mixing cool traditional spring colors with rich warm fall colors.

In 2011, spring colors will celebrate the cultures of the world by incorporating vibrant colors of Africa, Peru, India and Turkey. Bold and warm colors are always associated with these countries. That means the prim hues of springtime are about to get a kick in the pants. Designers will pair warm and cool complimentary colors to create eye catching outfits.

Combination colors to watch for are honeysuckle, coral rose, beeswax, lavender, peapod, russet and silver cloud. The silver cloud will be the neutral color that will help tie the opposing colors together. Think of the colors as elements of the sands, the sea, the jungle, the rocky shores, and the sunny meadows. These colors are organic and quite common in the natural world. It’s just this year that we’ll be wearing colors as we normally see them.

Fashion week in New York saw the 2011 spring colors debut with a 1970′s flair, and that style really suits them well. The free spirited, flowing styles of the decade of love and decadence combined with this new set of colors create an eye popping visual effect that should get the fashion smart shopper plenty of attention. It’s as if the color rules have flown out the window.

If bold color statements seem too scary for the conservative, don’t worry. There was plenty of traditional white on the runway. The styles are still flowing with a nod to the seventies, but the color is as safe as it comes for spring and summer.

All the food and alcohol and fun of the holiday season can really take a toll on the body. Fat creeps up, skin gets blemished, and the the general health and energy seems to wane. You might need to detox your body to remove all of that holiday damage. There’s no need to buy expensive products to do this. Basic, inexpensive products are probably already in your home.

It can’t be said enough. Drink plenty of water. It’s the ultimate detox serum. Flush the junk right out. The lingering effects of sugar and fat need to wash on out. All of the alcohol that comes with holiday cheer is dehydrating. Water is a great way to keep the body supple and the skin glowing.

Don’t forget about your fresh vegetables. Don’t let cookies and eggnog be your staple foods for two months. Cut back on the sugar and remember to eat salads and fresh vegetables. Skip meat and junk food a few days a week. Make sure your diet is rich in antioxidants. Eat up and drink up those super foods like cranberries, blueberries, carrots, avocados, dark and leafy greens, and even red wine.

Finally, break a sweat! Don’t forget to exercise, and seriously break a sweat. Let that workout release some of those toxins that are dragging you down. Not only will you physically glow, but your energy levels will stay strong. For some reason, we take that first bite of holiday turkey and we immediately quick working out. If there’s any time of the year we need to be diligent, it’s during the holidays.

Once you’ve had a good workout, take a shower with an exfoliating soap, or use a loofah to remove dead skin and invigorate the body. Make sure to keep your skin moisturized, too. Winter environments can really dry you out.

Have fun. Just don’t abandon healthy habits.

Summer is just around the corner, and that means plenty of time in the sun. Most people understand the effects of sun damage to the skin, but sun damage to the hair may go unnoticed. Don’t forget that your hair needs protection from the sun, too. In fact, it might require a little first aid after a long day in the sun.

Too much sun can actually damage the hair follicles and retard hair growth. The scalp can get a pretty good burn, too, so don’t forget to be good to your head. First, get rid of peroxide products that are activated by the sun. They can cause your hair to split and stop growing.

Once the sun fun is over, and you set to taking care of yourself, make sure you wash your hair with repairing shampoo and a protein conditioner. Rinse your hair and then apply a leave in conditioner to give your locks extra moisture. Once a week use a mint oil conditioner. In fact, only use the hair repairing shampoo once a week, too. It will take about three weeks before a positive effect is seen, but don’t give up. And in the meantime, never go into the sun without a leave in conditioner with UV protection.

You can also rub sunscreen into your scalp to protect your roots. You’ll just need to wash your hair immediately following your day outdoors. An interesting home remedy for repairing damaged hair is to combine honey and olive oil in a bag and then place it in warm water so it mixes together. Apply it to hair from the roots out, put on a shower cap to trap heat, wait 30 minutes and then shampoo and condition your hair.

Home remedies are becoming more commercialized, but taking it back to the basics will save money and be just as good for sun damaged hair.

Olive oil seems to be the natural wonder drug of hair care. It is used for a variety of hair treatment applications. It’s really not a mystery serum. It’s a natural product that has some of the good things that come from nature to make us healthy. Olive oil as a hair repair remedy only makes sense.

For years, health experts have extolled the benefits of using olive oil in our foods. It’s one of the key ingredients in the highly touted Mediterranean diet. It’s rich in Vitamin A and C and Omega-3 fatty acids. All of these components are key to good health and anti-aging. Needless to say, the consumption of olive oil will help all body systems, including hair.

However, there are a number of topical hair applications using olive oil. The remedies include solutions for damaged hair, dandruff and dry scalp, and promotion of hair growth. None are clinically proven to work, but none will cause damage. There’s enough anecdotal proof to certainly give olive oil a try as hair repair remedy.

If you’re looking to repair damaged, dry hair, a combination of olive oil and honey is said to be the concoction to use. It should be heated in a bag and then applied evenly throughout the hair. Put on a shower cap to retain heat and wait 30 minutes. Thoroughly wash the hair and use a conditioner. Repeat this about once a week.

To reduce dandruff and dry skin, combine warm olive oil and lime juice. Dab it directly onto the scalp with a cotton ball. Let it sit about an hour and wash your hair.

Massaging your head for thirty minutes with hot olive oil is said to stimulate hair growth. Likely the massage has more to do with it, but the vitamins in olive oil have long been connected to hair health.

Always rinse olive oil out of hair with hot water to keep it from turning greasy.
