More Dangerous Fashion Trends

Extreme fashion trends come and go and have been a part of our culture for centuries. It seems that fashion has such a strong pull that endangering one’s life or the chance for a deformity all in the name of “fashion” does not seem to deter the most intense fashion divas.

One fashion trend that has found its way back into fashion recently is extremely long earrings. This became popular in the 1980s and seems to be finding its way back into the fashion scene over the past few years. The danger of long earrings or large hoop earrings is their ability to get caught on things and pull out of the ear. This causes an injury to the ear that has to be surgically repaired.

Colored or novelty contact lenses have become a major fashion accessory. Unfortunately, it has become easy to purchase these lenses over-the-counter or online. Users are not receiving proper training or care while wearing these and tend to use them incorrectly and suffer eye infections as a result. Contact lenses of any kind should not be used without a doctor’s supervision.

Some of the most common fashion items that are used by nearly everyone have dangers involved as well. In fact, many hair colors contain carcinogens, which are chemicals that are known to cause cancer. Your clothing might be another source of toxins that can be introduced into your body. Synthetic leather, waterproof clothing, or clothing that is labeled as “easy care” or “easy iron” contains harmful chemicals which can release fumes throughout their lifetime. In fact, a dangerous chemical used in dry cleaning stays in your clothing and can contaminate your body and even your home. This chemical attacks the nervous system and can cause issues such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, and even reproductive issues.

Launching an Online Clothing Store

Every business can benefit from having a web presence. Some businesses rely completely on a website presence, never actually existing in a brick and mortar format. For example, you can decide to run a clothing store completely online, providing customers with a way to buy fashion clothing on the Internet without having to set foot in a store or a dressing room. If you decide that you want to run a clothing store online, you should be aware of some of the tactics that you can employ in order to improve customer satisfaction. Your primary concern should be to constantly improving upon your customer service, offering high quality products and solid customer service so that your customers are always satisfied with their interactions with your company. In order to determine whether you are meeting the needs of your customers, you can use a customer satisfaction survey. A customer satisfaction survey is going to help you interface with your customers. You can use these surveys to ask your customers about their experience. How would they rate their experience? Would they recommend your store to their friends or family members? Will they shop with you again in the future? Ask these and other simple but insightful questions and you will be able to gain some truly vital insight into the good and bad about your company. You can apply all of the information that you receive to how you do business, and in that way you will be able to improve your business with time. Customer surveys are a great way to find out what your customers think about you. The information that they provide you with will be able to be applied to your business so that you can make improvements and greatly improve upon the strengths of your company. If you want to know about your strengths and weaknesses, simply ask your customers because they will be honest with you.

Dangerous Fashion Trends

Through the centuries there have been many fashion extremes come and go. Many were harmless; however others have created life altering deformities, illnesses, or death all in the name of “beauty.” Have you ever considered how far you would go to be fashionable?
In tenth century China women would break and bind their feet to keep them small and achieve the look of a Lotus flower bud. This practice caught on and the wealthiest families began breaking and binding their young daughter’s feet to achieve this status symbol look. This led to crippling and an inability to walk. It must have been incredibly painful to endure.
The corset was used in fashion off-and-on from the fifteen century until the nineteenth century when a small waistline became essential to fashion. Over tightening corsets led to crush injuries and deformities of the ribs, which in turn led to miscarriages and other physical ailments. Doctors continually warned women of the dangers of wearing corsets, and blamed corset wearing to 97 different diseases or ailments.
In the late sixteenth century pale skin was a must. Tanned skin indicated a life of hardship and labor. The most popular way to achieve the pale skin was called “ceruse” which was a mixture of white lead and vinegar. This mixture was applied to the face, neck, and bosom. This would continually poison the wearer until they began to develop skin lesions, rotting teeth, hair loss, and eventually death.
Through the years, extremes in foot fashion including high platform shoes, stiletto heels, “stilt” style shoes, etc. have led to many, many accidents and injuries caused by these. Some of these shoe styles have been bulky, heavy, and difficult to balance in. This has caused issues with legs and feet as well as difficulty walking and balancing resulting in injuries.

Fashion Extremes Through the Centuries

There have been fashion extremes coming and going for centuries. In fact, some extreme fashions caught on and took hold lasting sometimes for one thousand years or more. Some of the things that catch on as a fashion are harmless enough, while others can cause serious injury, even death. Over the centuries there have been body altering fashions as well as clothing fashions that stood over the test of time.

In China during the tenth century royal families created the “lotus foot.” Royal women decided that they wanted to achieve the look of a tiny foot that looked like a lotus blossom. They began binding their feet in an effort to duplicate this look. This fashion trend caught on quickly and soon the wealthiest families began breaking and binding their daughter’s feet at very young ages to keep their feet small in an effort to achieve the lotus foot. This fashion extreme continued for over one thousand years until it was finally outlawed in 1949.

In the eleventh century European women of importance needed a way to set themselves apart from the lower class due to the fact that only local sources of fabrics were available such as fur and wool. These women began removing all of the hair on their faces and even the front part of their heads in an effort to set themselves apart. This fashion extreme also lasted for over one thousand years. It began in approximately 500 A.D. and stuck around until well into the Elizabethan era.

There have been many, many other fashion extremes through time such as elaborate headdresses for upper class women, bone crushing corsets, big wigs, or bustles. Some of these were simply a harmless fashion statement, although possibly uncomfortable, while others caused physical deformities.

Hair Up Dos

There are a thousand ways to wear your hair. Two basic ways to wear your hair is either up or down, but there are so many ways to do either. Sometime you can wear half of it up and half of it down, but there’s more ways to wear your hair up than there is to wear it down.

The simplest way to wear your hair up is in a ponytail. Even though ponytails are so simple, there are several different ways to wear it. You can wear a ponytail high, low, or in the middle. To do a ponytail, simply brush all your hair together and secure with an elastic.

Another simple way to wear your hair up is in braids. Braids are so simple, but there are even more ways to do braids than to do ponytails. There are several different types of braids, but the easiest and most common is the three-way braid. You can do as many braids as you want, but to begin one, gather all your hair together. You can secure it with an elastic, or do it without one. Divide your hair into three sections and fold one of the outer sections over the middle section, then the other outer section over that new middle section. Continue this until you get to the end of your hair and secure with an elastic.

A messy bun is an easy way to wear your hair up as well. Start with a ponytail wherever you want your bun on your head. Twirl your hair until it starts curling around the ponytail. Continue until your hair is completely wrapped around. Remember to keep it loose. Secure with a ponytail elastic. Pull pieces out until it is as messy as you would like.

Some of these hairstyles look great in different ways. You can place them wherever you want on your head. This will create a different look even though it’s the same type of hairstyle. Experiment with different up dos until you find certain ones you like and that are easy for you.

Lose those Post-Holiday Pounds Before Spring

After the holidays and a seemingly endless winter, it can be a struggle to get back into those Apple Bottom jeans! Although it won’t make you feel any better, you definitely aren’t alone. Let’s take a look at the best ways to get ready for those slinky spring fashions:

Cut Back a Little Bit Now

Instead of waiting to the last minute, cutting back on the sweets and fatty foods now is a good plan. If depriving yourself at the last minute always sends you on a junk-food binge, try this approach. Instead of cutting out your favorites, why not simply add some of the good stuff? Before you have your regular meal, enjoy a piece of fruit or a few raw vegetables like celery or carrot sticks. They will not only fill you up a little bit before you sit down to a full meal, they’ll also supply extra vitamins and minerals to curb your cravings. After a few days, you may find that you are less interested in the more calorie-laden dishes.

Add Just a Little Exercise to Start

Many people feel that they have to go all out to lose a little weight. This is definitely not true! Just like you started slowly replacing your bad food choices with better ones, you can start out slowly with your exercise program. If you’ve been fairly lazy all winter, start out with a five or ten minute walks each day. As you begin to feel better, you’ll be motivated to slowly increase your pace and your time. Before you know it, regular exercise will become part of your daily routine! Most experts say that 30 minutes a day of exercise is enough for most people. If you’re pressed for time, make this a priority! Aren’t you worth 30 little minutes each day?

By starting out slowly, you’ll develop lifelong habits and never have to worry about gaining weight in the future!

Determing Your Face Shape

Not everyone can wear the same hairstyle and look great. Each person is an individual and needs to consider several things when choosing a hairstyle that will compliment them the most. One of the things to consider when choosing a hairstyle is your face shape. Different face shapes will look best with different hairstyles. While one person may look best with a short wispy style another person looks best with longer locks.

How do you determine what your face shape is? Your face can be oval, oblong, round, square, heart, or diamond shaped. It is difficult to be objective about your own face shape but your hairdresser can help you determine which shape you have. However, if you would like to determine this for yourself there are some things you can do to help you with this.

You will need to take some measurements of your face to determine your particular face shape. You will be measuring across your forehead, cheek to cheek, from the point of your hairline to the tip of your chin, and across your jaw line. Once you have all of your measurements done and written down it is time to determine the shape of your face.

If you have an oval face your measurements will show that the length of your face is equal to one and a half times the width. A round face is approximately as wide as it is long and will physically have a round appearance. If your face is oblong it will be longer than it is wide. The heart shaped face is narrow at the jaw line and wider at the forehead and/or cheekbones. With a square face you will find your face will be approximately as wide as it is long. A diamond shaped face is widest at the cheekbones with a narrow forehead and jaw line; the forehead and jaw line will be close to equal in width.

Emo Attitude Makes the Best Emo Hair

People either love or hate Emo kids. Maybe that’s the purpose. No one really knows exactly how to define Emo, but you can bet that Emo attitude makes the best Emo Hair. Some people pay hundreds of dollars to get the Emo look on their locks, but kids who don’t have that kind of cash can do it themselves by being creative and really exploring their personalities.

Emo can be pouty and sad, it can be emotional and sensitive, and it can be very cool. Our hairstyle defines us. Emo hair can be subtle or it can be an extreme hairstyle with far out colors and jagged edges.

Emo hair is usually black, so getting that extreme look will require some hair dye. The hairstyles are also defined by asymmetrical lines and jagged edges. That means the hair has to be longer. The best Emo attitude doesn’t really mind if the hair gets messed up in self experimentation. Emo is all about expression, good and bad. Emo hair is usually parted to one side with locks falling across the face and hiding one eye. This may be a way of expressing hidden feelings or being just a little mysterious.

Emo hair is usually not spiky or big. The idea is to be moody, so the hair is falling downward, not jumping up with excitement. If making that jagged, crazy extreme hair will get a kid in trouble, it’s easy to have instant Emo hair by parting the existing style on the side and combing the hair over one eye.

However, some of the most interesting Emo styles take hours to achieve with hair products and blow dryers. It could be that self expression includes two tone hair. Maybe there’s a lighter tint underneath with bold black on the surface. Maybe it’s just some crazy died pattern in the hair.

Get creative and expressive, and show your Emo.

Extreme Hairstyles Require Extreme Care

Extreme hairstyles require extreme care. After all, these outrageous, eye catching styles mean lots of products and blow drying. The extreme look can be very damaging, so get radical with your care, too.

There are many products that claim to keep extreme hairstyles looking good for a long time, and some work. The problem is the cost of getting that healthy look after unhealthy manipulation of your locks. Sometimes you’ll need to tone it down and look more professional, so you want to go from extreme hair that stands out, to beautiful hair that shows your class. Salon products can help keep your hair healthy, but they may cost more than you want to pay. Here are a few things you can do to keep your hair looking good all of the time.

It will be costly at the beginning, but it will last a long time. Buy some pure jojoba oil. You can find this at most health food stores. It costs about one dollar per ounce, but it won’t take much to keep your hair, and even your skin, healthy. Also buy some organic shampoo. Try to get all the chemicals out of your cleansing routine. The extreme hairstyles can only be achieved with chemicals, so the extreme care needs to be void of them.

Wash your hair daily. Then before you dry off, work the jojoba oil into it. If you can go a day or so without doing the extreme coif, then your hair can heal and rest. Don’t even blow dry it on that day. Just get lazy and let it rest. It’s good to get your hair cut on a regular basis. This way you can eliminate frizzy split ends and really damaged locks. It’s also a time to begin anew with another extreme hairstyle. Extreme is defined by cutting edge creativity.

What is Ghetto Hair

Ghetto has become very cool in the mainstream, and ghetto hair is one of the most obvious ways to start fitting into the scene. It’s one thing to look ghetto, but it’s another thing to look authentically ghetto. You need to understand what ghetto hair really is and how it became so cool.

Ghettos were traditionally defined as places where poor, ethnic people lived. Since people were so poor, they had to be very resourceful and imaginative to get an extreme hairstyle, like ghetto hair. No one style defines this kind of hairstyle. It is about standing out to express your own personality.

Blacks have been the real trendsetters with ghetto hair because the texture of their hair is perfect for sculpting extreme hairstyles that fit the individual. The hair would change daily and often included extreme color accents. Sometimes it was an updo, and other times it might be classy braids or straight, short bobs. For the white or Hispanic women, an updo defined a daring, wild girl, so girls would pile the hair up high in a messy fashion. It looked a little sophisticated, but a little trashy. It was super sexy.

Even the big stars are going for ghetto hair. Superstars, like Rhianna, change their hair daily, it seems. The whole world is watching her every move, so she has really brought ghetto extreme hairstyles into the mainstream. Even white stars, like Pink, go for ghetto. It’s definitely a major fashion trend in the hip hop scene, but even some other scenes are picking it up as a fashion statement. It’s a great way to loosen up a conservative image and really get noticed.

If you’re creating your own ghetto style, you can certainly follow the stars, but the very best ghetto hair is the kind you create yourself. Some styles do take a really long time, as they may require treatments to straighten hair, but they’ll look super cool.
